1. Check your portable solar panel type
-
Make sure it is a solar panel without a built-in charge controller.
-
If it has a charge controller, it may not work correctly with this system.
2. Get the correct adapter
-
The Zap port uses an SAE connector.
-
Most solar panels use MC4 connectors.
-
Buy an MC4-to-SAE adapter (available online or at electronics stores).
3. Match voltage and power correctly
-
The roof system is rated at 24V and 220W.
-
Choose a portable panel that matches 24V and similar wattage (around 220W).
-
Matching specs helps the system work properly and avoids performance issues.
4. Prepare the connection
-
Locate the Zap port on your trailer.
-
Open the protective cover.
5. Plug in the adapter
-
Connect the MC4 end to your solar panel.
-
Plug the SAE end into the Zap port.
6. Start charging
-
Once connected properly, the system should automatically begin charging your batteries.
7. Finish up safely
-
When you’re done, unplug the panel.
-
Close the protective cover over the Zap port.
