How do I connect or troubleshoot my backup camera?

Please take a moment to watch the video below for step-by-step guidance, or follow the step-by-step written directions.

If you need additional help, our After Sales team at Escape Trailer will be happy to assist you. You can submit a support ticket using this form

1. Find the Camera Equipment

  1. In the trailer, locate the box containing the backup camera monitor.

  2. Inside the box you should find:

    • The camera monitor

    • A 12-volt power cord (cigarette lighter plug)

    • A suction cup windshield mount

2. Attach the Monitor to the Mount

  1. Locate the ball joint on the suction cup mount.

  2. Find the socket on the back of the monitor.

  3. Push the monitor onto the ball joint.

  4. Apply firm pressure until you hear a click.

  5. Stop once you hear the first click.

Tip: This may require a little force.

3. Mount the Monitor in the Vehicle

  1. Attach the suction cup mount to your windshield.

  2. Position it where you can see the screen easily without blocking your view of the road.

4. Power the Monitor

  1. Plug the 12-volt (cigarette lighter) adapter into the vehicle outlet.

  2. Plug the small connector into the back of the monitor.

  3. The screen should turn on automatically.

5. Make Sure the Trailer Camera Has Power

The camera only works if the trailer is receiving power.

You must have one of these connected:

  • The 7-pin trailer connector connected to the tow vehicle, or

  • A battery setup powering the 7-pin connection

Once powered, the monitor should show the camera view.

6. Understanding the Distance Lines

The screen shows colored lines to help judge distance:

  • Red line → very close

  • Yellow line → moderate distance

  • Green line → farther away

These help when backing up or parking the trailer.

7. Adjust the Camera Angle

If you want to change what the camera sees:

  1. Go to the camera on the back of the trailer.

  2. Manually tilt or click the camera into a different position.

  3. Adjust until you get the view you prefer.

8. Turn On Camera Audio (Microphone)

  1. Tap the monitor screen twice.

  2. Volume controls will appear.

  3. Tap the volume up button.

  4. Press Escape to return to the camera view.

You should now hear sound from the camera microphone.

9. If the Screen Says “No Signal”

Sometimes the monitor switches to another camera channel.

  1. Tap the screen once.

  2. A menu will appear showing:

    • Door

    • Left

    • Right

    • Rear

  3. Select Rear.

  • The camera view should return.

Note: Your trailer only has the rear camera, not door or side cameras.

How to Re-Pair the Camera (If It Disconnects)

1.  Open Settings

  • Press the button on the side of the monitor.

  • Select Pairing.

2. Activate Pairing on the Camera

  • Go to the camera on the back of the trailer.

  • Press the small button on the bottom of the camera.

3. Pair the Camera

  • On the monitor, press the side button again.

  • Go to Pairing.

  • Select Rear Camera.

    • The monitor will try to connect to the camera.

  • If Pairing Fails:

    • Press the button on the camera again.

    • Try pairing again from the monitor.

    • Make sure you pair quickly after pressing the camera button.

    • Having one person at the monitor and one at the camera can make this easier.

Important Reminder

  • The trailer only has one camera: the rear backup camera.

  • Other camera options shown on the monitor will not be used.
